Ontario Renters for Fair Housing Coalition

Ontario Renters for Fair Housing is a growing coalition of well-organized and dedicated Tenant Associations. The organisation was established to bring together the voices of renters across Ontario to work toward shared objectives. For too long, renters have been pushed aside in the interests of large corporate landlords. This coalition aims to rebalance the tenant-landlord dynamic through organizing, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.

Our Objectives

Challenge policies that are refinancializing renters

We work to transform housing policy so that homes are for people, not profit. By addressing tools like vacancy decontrol, above-guideline increases, and rent control exemptions, we can build a fairer rental system that values tenants as people and strengthens communities across Ontario.

Empower tenants and tenant associations

We work to elevate tenants and tenant associations as essential partners in shaping the places we live. With respect, resources, and supportive policies, renters can help drive local development, foster social networks, support local economies, and create safe, welcoming communities for everyone.
